In this newly created role, he leads Adobe Stock\u2019s editorial content strategy and collection, working with world-class photojournalists, documentary photographers, editorial providers and media. With more than 30 years of experience as an industry executive and photojournalist \u2013and multiple awards for his work on conflict, including two World Press Photo prizes and the Bayeux prize for war photography\u2013 Santiago brings a unique perspective that reflects a lifetime of taking on new challenges with great passion and journalistic integrity<\/p>\n<p>He started his career in photography in Madrid in 1987 and then became Reuters\u2019s chief photographer for Mexico and Central America from 1989 to 1991.<\/p>\n<p>Between 1991 and 1995 he was based in Cairo as photographer\/photo editor and he \u00a0has traveled extensively in the Middle East and Africa, as well as parts of Europe, covering news, sports and entertainment for the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>In 1995 he became AP Chief Photographer for Spain and Portugal until 2003 when he became Director of Photography for the Associated Press. He coordinated the photo operations of the Associated Press in Spain and Portugal and traveled frequently to cover major news, sports and entertainment stories in Europe, Middle East and Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Between March 2012 and November 2016 he was Vice President of Photography, member of AP\u2019s senior news department leadership, tasked with overseeing the Associated Press\u2019s global photo department, the entirety of AP\u2019s newsgathering in Asia as well as the agency\u2019s global news staff training.<\/p>\n<p>Lyon is U.S. Representative for World Press Photo Foundation.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1707&#8243; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css_animation=&#8221;fadeInRight&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css_animation=&#8221;fadeInLeft&#8221;]Santiago Lyon is Adobe\u2019s first director of editorial content.
