As Exhibitions Manager & Curator and part of the Exhibitions team, Sophie Boshouwers sets up World Press Photo exhibitions all over the globe: from Zimbabwe to Italy – from Brazil to Vietnam.
She curates exhibitions, provides lectures and guided tours on the ground to give background to the world of World Press Photo, its global family of visual journalists and the winning images, as well as finds ways to support local photographers, connecting them to grants and World Press Photo programs & collaboratives such as APJD and 6X6. She believes highly in creating awareness through quality visual journalism, by scouting for new locations and through developing outside- and tailor- made exhibitions, in order to bring the stories that matter closer to the worldwide public.
She feels strongly connected to the African continent where she traveled extensively as well lived and worked for the Dutch NGO ‘SNV – Netherlands Development Organisation’ in Mwanza, Tanzania.
