Menelaos Sykovelis was born and lives with his family at Ioannina. He studied physics at the University of Ioannina, while at the same time he was active in the field of advertising, having founded the Studio Synthesis in 1989. He has professionally photographed and filmed personalities from the fields of visual arts, sports, theatre, politics and music. He specialises in photographing hotels and tourist destinations, focusing on architecture and gastronomy while frequently travelling for business purposes. His photographs have been published in national and regional newspapers and magazines, as well as in public sector publications (Greek National Tourism Organisation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Epirus Prefecture, Municipality of Ioannina etc.). He has several solo and group exhibitions in Athens and Ioannina.
